Just to set the background the Samy GS3 comes with a 2100 mAh battery.

I have been reading that it is possible to put a 2600 mAh battery in the GS3. Has anyone tried this? Will it break my phone or light it on fire?

I have an AT&T GS3 if that makes any difference.

im seeing some 3300 mAh batteries that claim they work in a SG3!

I feel like my phone will explode if i use a 3300 mAh battery. Am i trippin?

A larger battery would work with a larger rear casing. Usually larger batteries come with them.

Gorilla Gadgets Battery

You will have to do without a case.

My husband has the Hyperion extended battery 4000mAh with the pebble blue back, and it works excellent so far...I just ordered one myself in white.
From Amazon

Only thing, no case :o

awesome. Thanks for all the responses.

Is there a large capacity battery that will fit in my GS3 without having to get a larger back cover?

None of the ones named in this thread make any mention of NFC. Since the NFC antenna is built into the original battery you may lose that functionality with generic aftermarket batteries. If NFC isn't important to you, you might not care.

LadiJae - the link you provided didn't mention NFC, do you know if your husband's NFC still works with his extended battery?

While the extra battery life is great, I have dropped my share of phones and now put a case on all of them. Battery life so far has not been an issue as I have a home, car and office charger. The battery life is pretty decent and I have yet to go below 50%

You need to find put what is sucking your battery life. I use GSam monitor and found the app that was killing mine, and now average 18 - 20 hrs a charge.

Near Field Communications.

It is a very short range communication standard. It is what the Google Wallet app uses to communicate to a merchants paypass enabled point of sale device to let you pay for things with your phone. It is also used by Android beam/S-beam to initiate a connection between two phones.

Some other neat things

Thanks I Google it and the answers varies

Just an update, Mugen-Power has a 2300mAh battery that fits in the phone without having to get a larger back cover. It's only a 10% bump up from the 2100mAh and I am not sure if it has NFC. If you want more power than 2300mAh it looks like you will have to get a bigger back cover.

EDIT: The Mugen 2300mAh has NFC it can be found here: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...i-i9300-atandt-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-1747.html
