Can you return a credit item?

So I used my Samsung credit to get one of the wireless battery packs ($60). I later discovered that they have an even more powerful version for ($80). It obviously was too late to cancel it (I also (stupidly) didn't even try to see if you can use your credit outside of their suggested tab when you are purchasing the phone). Anyhoo, has anyone tried returning an item they got from Samsung credit? The customer service agent that I talked to said that I could but I've seen different agents promise different things.

Anyone have experience?
