Cancelled my unlocked order

just curious, how do you think they've handled the situation poorly so far? right when the pre orders started they said it would ship on the 18th and as far as we know that's still going to happen. our phones haven't been delayed or anything

Agreed. The amount of conflicting information on this forum is mind-boggling.

Because some want to act like little kids.

Not exactly... have you talked to letstalk rep and asked when shipping date will be? I have a few times, and they can't give you an answer!! Above that you get attitude from them because you push to get the information. They had gone as far as to authorize charge on credit cards (although removed later), without having product to ship. At least state that they will "start shipping" at a certain date, with some getting it later than that if they pre-ordered later. But the release date for phone is only a few days away, and they still can't give you a shipping date!!
I've talked to ATT a few times, and they say they will start shipping this week, at least they give an answer.
At the end of the day, its not an argument of whether the phone is worth it or not... but if you don't provide good service you will lose customers. Especially since there are many options on getting this phone. HTC messed up by having this company deal with their direct unlocked sales. And by the way, there is no communication between HTC rep and Letstalk rep... one HTC rep (which again, all have been as helpful as can me since they are all tech support), told me that they keep getting complaints about letstalk not having information, and unfortunatley the two sides don't communicate... and "oh by the way, i'm going to connect you to them but you will be on hold for a good 20mins, i called for another customer a few hours ago and was on hold forever".

They don't necessarily know the answer. This isn't all their fault. They know they will ship them out within X number of days after receiving them, but if they don't know when HTC is sending them what are they supposed to say?

Maybe you shouldn't be pushy.

This is pretty common, check the AT&T thread they did the same thing. They do this to see if the funds are available at pre-order time and to ensure they have the correct billing info. If everything is fine they release the hold on the funds and then bill you when it ships. This avoids issues related to incorrect billing that would otherwise only show up when the ship time came.

Again, I'm guessing this has more to do with HTC than anyone else.

And what if that isn't accurate? Will you still be happy just because you got an answer? How many AT&T sales reps, either in store or on the phone, have given people incorrect info before? All of them.

Yea, the first Letstalk.com rep I ever spoke to was that Friday morning not an hour after I placed the original order (I wanted to get my coupon added) told me it was a bug in the system with "two different websites" and that I should try calling back on Monday. LOL

Called back and was on hold for 45 minutes before talking to new rep who said I had to cancel other order and place a new one with coupon. I did so and then the coupon didn't take free shipping with it so I had to call again with another 45 minutes just to get them to add free shipping.... well it wasn't overnight so I called on the weekend and it gave me a voicemail -- LOL wtf is that? A voicemail?

Think about it, the need to flash CM to make the phone not lag days are long gone. This phone FLIES stock so whats the need really? I know some people swear by flashing everything but I guess I got out of that phase lol. I want my phone to have plenty of stock features, no stuttering, and a clean OS which Sense always was compared to cartoonland TW lol.

I flash custom Roms on my phones also but I'm not sure I'll do it with the HTC One, at least not for a while. When I played with the phone at the At&t store it was very nice. The UI was very smooth & fast with no lag. The look & feel of the phone combined with the operation of the UI makes it a very premium experience.

If I dont have a tracking number on thursday then I'll cancel. I think thats gonna happen alot on thursday if they arent shipping them.

Yea, I think I'd only flash a custom ROM that had certain background functions enabled or had better OC/UV kernels for battery life. I've seen some ROMs that do full GPU rendering instead of software and that's a nice touch.

I thought that ICS implemented the capability of forcing the phones to do hardware rendering (under developer options)? Isn't that on all ICS and later phones?

They can use it but not 100% mandatory or rather not completely used.

There is an option to force gpu rendering on my nexus 7 developer options.

I would think twice about canceling. I walked into a AT&T store this morning to see if by chance I could grab one. The rep told me they could infect sell it to me. However they weren't allowed to sell it off contract only for contracts until then supply starts coming in regularly. They only got Shipped one phone and they don't know when they're getting more. Granted this was only one local store but it might be the same in other areas too.

Im currently on the phone yelling at ATT. The store tells me one thing when I call then something else when I get there. I asked them last week if I can pre order full price they said yeah sure no problem, then when I went there they told me I couldnt and to just come in Friday. I called them again and then they told me they couldnt sell it launch day off contract. I WILL get this damn phone on Friday so help me god.

I only had problems with Auth Resellers not wanting to sell a brand new device on release day with a contract. Never with a corporate store.

It must depend on the store because the one I went to just wouldn't sell it off contract. The rep even went to the back to ask someone and just came back suggesting Best Buy. Pretty bummed I didn't get to buy it.

Yeah exactly. I dont want to risk waiting till friday and then be SOL so i ordered it online via next day delivery.

Pre-orders are back, but problems are still here =((.
I read something about not notifying about orders by letstalk. But that creates a huge uncertainty - I don't have order ID, I can't check it's status, I don't even know if it was confirmed or cancelled as before. Does anybody have any idea what to do in such situation? Is there a way to view my orders at HTC site?? If not, it's the worst online-store I've ever seen!
I don't want to try order again because it's possible that I'll receive 2 phones or even more =)

I was in the same boat. I started an online chat and was able to get my order # from an rep. I was told that they are having problems with gmail accounts and spam. Anyway, I got my order # and was able to check my status which said that it's supposed to ship today, but it's 6:30 PM (CST) so I doubt that. Hope that helps!

I am still showing backorder on my stuff. Figure if nothing changed by Thursday I'd start to worry.

Agreed. I remember when I was with Verizon and I had a Droid incredible that I got from a reseller full retail. I didn't like it so I wanted to exchange for the Motorola X that had just come out. And they told me they weren't going to let me swap it for that one because they could only sell phone to new contracts or upgrades. The rest of the convoy went like this:

Me: Really? That doesn't make any sense.
Them: sorry but we are unable to do so within the first week
Me: well then just accept it as a return and I'll go to a corporate store and get the X.
Them: uh, did you say you want the Motorola X? Yeah we can swap that for you

So that was pretty funny. But I've bought several devices on release day from corporate stores and full retail and never had an issues. Pretty weird.
