Candid first impression vs Evo 4G LTE

Just returned the evo lte. Samsung gs3 ftw. Smoother, love the color depth of the screen, touch wiz > sense, more comfortable in the hands, better looking. Everything else is about the same. It's a keeper.... For now. ;-)

Glad you like the SGS3 better, it's a great phone, however, those reasons are purely subjective.

I don't understand how someone can prefer tw over sense. I switched to the s3 for one day and switched back to my evo immediately. Sense 4 is the perfect ui to me

I'm sure there are some out there who can't believe you prefer Sense over Touchwiz. To each their own. Thank GOD we still have some choices left in America.

I did the exact same thing yesterday. I had the evo lte for 25 days and as it is a very nice device, I went with the S3 for something different. Was a little nervous as I have not owned a Samsung phone for over 7rs. Damn glad I did the exchange as I really like the S3 over the evol lte, and for all the same reasons above.

I still fail to understand the reasons posters need to denigrate someone else's phone (or other choice of anything) in order for their own choice to look better (or feel better). It seems like a lot of people come on here to complain about their phone rather than posting valid concerns. If you don't like Sense or Touchwiz then don't buy HTC or Samsung. If you like their hardware but don't like the software then your only choice is to root. Sometimes a launcher will fix most problems (sometimes not). Sometimes someone may have bad hardware and needs to return it. Very often, the number or type of apps someone uses can greatly affect the performance of the phone (not very many people list a complete app drawer to know what may or may not be affecting the phone). The network of your carrier has a BIG affect on how your phone operates for you - e.g. the iPhone was said to be terrible at making phone calls and yet the Verizon iPhone never seemed to have that problem. I think the same can be said for either phone in someone's personal calling area. Finally, while most reviewers stated that if they used the SG3 next to the HOX they could notice a difference in the screens that it wasn't really that noticeable when they used one or the other on a Day - Day basis. As for the auto brightness issue, my current Dinc 2 (which I like a lot BTW) does not work on Auto so I set it on manual and I also can't see it very well in the sun. I ordered the SG3 because it is my last chance to get a subsidized phone w/o changing data plans. I am concerned because I think all the high end phones are TOO BIG and I'm praying I won't feel this way with the SG3 (it is much bigger than my Dinc 2 which I think is a very nice size). Enjoy your phone - whichever one it may be. Happy Independence Day.

Yes. Thank GOD we have a choice, and thank GOD we have the freedom and technology to engage in lively and (mostly) respectful debate regarding those choices.
Happy 4th everyone! I'm going to enjoy the fireworks in DC and hopefully get some good pics of them with my EVO...

I can call him a liar, because I've had the phone since launch and its been working fine. None of the problems you guys are talking about.

Here is a quick video I just made at work of the so called "slow" EVO. As you can see from the video, as soon as the lock screen is open the phone is ready. I also open a few random apps to show there is no lag with opening an app.

Not bad for a HTC phone..... j/p I'm just messing with you, I always felt the One X' ui was decently smooth like what you just showed me in your video, but what really sucked was the stock browser. Why don't you do a new video and show me how a webpage scrolls and pinch and zoom, or are you intentionally leaving it out because you know it would be choppy? Why don't you also do something in each of those random apps that you open and see how many you can open before the app restarts again?

Also the phone by itself looks smooth but if you put it side by side you will see a difference, just like how the super amoled hd screen looks fine by itself and looks worse as you put them side by side with a slcd2 screen. To some people they can see the faults of the smoled screen without putting it side by side ( I can't ) but I can certainly tell that this phone while smooth is not as smooth as the GS3 without it being side by side.

I finally got home yesterday to pick up my S3 from the neighbor who held it for me all week. This phone is AMAZING! None of the issues I had with the Evo LTE. Feels awesome in the hand. Looks beautiful in blue. This actually feels like a substantial improvement from my Evo 4G.

LOL, that's your rebuttal?

First off I never used the stock browser so why would I show that. Android is about choice. If something doesnt work for someone they will find another app to use. So my browser of choice is the new FF which is faster than chrome.
Now most of the apps I opened are network dependent so thats why I did let them load. I
work at a hospital and the wifi sucks and we all know how sprints service is.

Everyone uses their phones differently so opening 15+ apps to see which one restarts is ed. We all know the sense multitasking sucks, plus thats not how I use my phone. Its faster for me to hit home and launch the app that I need.

Rebuttal? lol What did you expect me to post. A poster said the EVO 4G was slower than the og evo and that opening apps took a long time to open. I disproved that by making a video of my stock EVO opening a number of apps and they all averaged about 1-2 seconds to open.

That was to prove that all the people who said the OG evo was faster at opening apps and how the EVO 4G has lag were lying
