Cannot delete files on SD card

I have a Fusion5 Lollipop and only use it for watching downloaded files (cooking programmes mainly). I do not use the internet because I download the files to my PC and copy them to the Android. I do not use any other function (camera etc) on the machine.

I currently have a problem with deleting files on the SD card - I have an error message that says No Permission to Delete when I try to delete them directly on the Android. I can delete them through my PC, but when I return to the Fusion, none of the files have actually been deleted.

I have searched the internet for solutions to this problem and have done everything suggested but to no avail. I have even installed ES File Manager but that does not work either.

Is there anyone who can advise me what to do next please.

Beware of ES file
Manager as that was recently acquired by a Chinese company and has reports of some malware or bad behaviour. Simple file manager is free and safer to use. Try that app and see what happens.

Welcome to AC!
Try total commander in play store

Thank you both for your replies. Kizzy Catwoman - Following your advice, I've taken ES File Manager off the Android.
mustang 7757 - I've found Total Commander was already installed but after reading further information concerning memory cards, it would appear that the manufacturers, in some cases, set a limit to how many read/white actions can be taken with a card and once that limit has been reached, there is NOTHING that can be done to fix the cards. It is a sort of fail safe system.
I was thinking that there was perhaps something wrong with the Android so I am pleased to know that there isn't - I'm just going to buy another card!
Again, thanks for your interest in my post and your input.
Best regards, Rachel

I doubt it's the issue with the finite number of read/write operations for a card -- that would lead to the card becoming completely unusable, not just the inability to delete a file.

I suspect it has to do with the file manager apps not having permission to fully access the SD card, but it's been so long since I had a Lollipop device, it's hard to test.
