Couldn't detect your location

Please check your signal and tap here to try again.

That's the error my girlfriend has on her Evo, when clicking on Places on Facebooks mobile site. However when you load in the stock Google Maps, it can detect her GPS. The location detection works just fine on my Evo, so naturally shes upset that mine works and hers doesnt.

anyone know how to fix this? It'll save me an ear full lol

Try running the updates (prl and profile) it will re-sync the phone with the tower locations and network. That might work.

You can try clearing the facebook apps data,

menu > settings > applications > manage applications > all > facebook > force stop, clear data, clear cache, then re-launch the app, sign on and try it again.

If that doesn't work get an app called gps status, go in to it's advanced menu and reset all the gps stats and download gps helper info, but I think it's just a facebook app problem since your Maps is fine.

Well, I don't know what it was, but I pressed menu furiously about 6 times and it started working...lol....thanks for the advice!! :)

for the last week, I've been having similar issue. It isn't a problem with the GPS though - it's with the Wireless location feature.

My weather widgets (weatherbug and "weather widgets") were both having location issues. Weatherbug wasn't changing locations at all, and weather widgets thought I was about 40 miles away. Now, weather widgets thinks I'm in Iceland (oddly enough, it appears to be much warmer there than in Chicago, where I'm really at).

When I'm in an area that the GPS can't lock on, the Google map would show I'm somewhere else (big blue circle). When I get to an area that I get a GPS lock, Google Map and Weatherbug update my correct location just fine. Weather widgets doesn't - I don't think they use GPS, just wireless.

I've toggled Wireless Networking several times. I've tried *228. I've tried power-cycling (power off as well as On/battery pull).

What I'm curious of is if this is a Verizon problem or a Moto Droid (original) problem, or an Android 2.2 problem?

I'm not sure if you can do this on the droid but if you can, set your roaming options to home network only.
