Android Central Question

Hi all, we have an Oppo AX7 which a previous employee has returned.

It has a lockscreen code which he can't remember.

I can get to the ColorOS Recovery menu but it requires the lockscreen password to wipe the data.

I cannot get in to any other menu to factory reset this thing.

Can someone advise if there is a way to factory reset an Oppo AX7 without the lockscreen passcode?

thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Unfortunately, we can't help with discussions about bypassing security features (even if you're the IT admin for your company). Sorry!

My previous question was removed as apparently it was about bypassing security. I just want to factory reset a phone! Most phones allow a factory reset without cracking security, does this phone?

thanks

Re: Factory reset

Forgetting the lock screen for a moment.

Is it a company provided Gmail account on the phone or one the employee put on it? Even if you can reset the phone if you don't have the Gmail account password the phone is locked to it's essentially a paperweight that can't be used again.

If you have the Gmail information then it's worth resetting the phone. Most phones have a boot menu you can access by holding the volume down while powering on or something similar, I'm not familiar with Oppo.

If you don't have the Gmail account info you're wasting your time trying to reset the phone as it won't work.

Duplicate threads merged. I'm sorry that you're having difficulty with this issue, but it is our policy not to allow discussions about trying to bypass security features. You may be legit, but that information could be used by others who just want to steal a phone and make it their own.

It's also a bit odd that the previous employee already forgot their lockscreen PIN (unless perhaps he hadn't used the device for a long time). Maybe you could hound him a little more to try to remember. If your company has a policy that the employee is responsible for any damage to or loss of the phone, then it may be reasonable to charge him for it, since irresponsibly forgetting the lockscreen PIN is just as bad as losing the phone.

Good luck!
