Android Central Question

I'm asking on someones behalf: When they open whatsapp on android, it opens directly to 'Trainline' and they cannot find a way to close or return to the main screen or chats. They have sight problems too which does not help, which is why I'm asknig for them.
Can you help so I can talk the through a solution. They're using a Samsung but i don't know which one.

Thank you.

Once in a group chat (which is what I presume this 'Trainline' is) tap the top left corner where there's an arrow pointing left and it'll return to the screen showing the list of chats.

It's possible that they are opening WhatsApp from a shortcut direct to that specific chat. Tell them to create a new generic shortcut by opening the app drawer and dragging the WhatsApp icon to their home screen. Tell us how it goes.

hallux. Thank you. It's Trainline.com the website for buying train tickets. It seems this comes up whenever they bring up the App. and they can't get it to go away to return to the home screen or settings. It's as if it's stuck. (I'm in the U.K. by the way, they live 200 miles away and we're all in lockdown). All that's needed really is the key for getting back to the main screen with all info. Kind regards Kenny.

I moved this to the WhatsApp forum for more specific traffic.

Thanks for registering. Tell them to create a new shortcut on a different screen to open WhatsApp, restart the phone and see if the problem persists when opening it from this new shortcut.

Thank you for your help. All sorted now. I had a nice long conversation and went through a lot of info. The fact that we're in a lockdown situation means she cannot just go in to town for help. She's actually a vicar, (reverend) and lives in a remote part of northern England anyway and is difficult at the best of times (See photo) and needless to say she needs her phone.

Thank you again.

Kenny

At first, switching the phone off and on again seemed to clear everthing. That meant being able to get in to the menu and settings and go through the options. I did talk her through it and all appears to be well.

There were other considerations though, of a personal nature. As I said at the start, the person has some sight problems which meant some of the more subtle colours and icons are not obivous, the shade of green and the small dots and arrows. In this particular instance too, she was included in a group for an Easter church service, (without being asked).

That was when the her problem/panic started. She was worried that any further personal messages were then going to all including the Bishop. She's not a stupid or inept person, far from it, she just she doesn't need to have to worry about tech stuff and jargon when there's more important work to be done. A bit like having to understand the intricacies of the gearbox before you can start your car.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

Kenny.
