Cannot get DND to activate while Spotify is running.

I would like to stop all notifications, that is, FB, Messenger, all apps except all Phone calls to my phone, while Spotify is running however this seems to be problematic and for example, SMS message notifications are still coming thru.

The way I set this up is:
* Setup.
* Modes & Routines.
* Routines.
If <App Opened = Spotify> Then Do Not Disturb = On. When routine ends, Do Not Disturb returns to status before routine ran.

I have opened Spotify, however I got an SMS message and a Messenger notification while the music was playing so it does not seem to be working. I swiped down to check my notifications and I can see the music player, Do Not Disturb on (Modes and Routines (Routines). I go into Setup, Notifications, Do Not Disturb, and it is set to Off.

My DnD is set to this:
* For how long: Until I turn it off.
* Schedule: Everyday 12:00am to 6:00am
* Calls and messages: Some Allowed
* ---- Contacts = <BLANK>
* ---- Calls = All
* ---- Messages = None
* App Notifications: None allowed.

How do I fix this?

Just to add.....

I just received a notification sound, which interrupted the music, however when I swiped down the notifications panel, there were no new notifications showing. I then went to the main screen to check if Messenger or any other app had new notifications showing (you know how they show a number in a red circle) however none showed.

I then swiped down the notification panel again and DnD was now not showing at all and all my previous notifications were listed, so I guess DnD crashed?

I closed & re-opened Spotify and now DnD is on (according to the swipe-down notification panel however that only lasted about 10 seconds ant then my previous notifications were showing again and DnD was not showing in the panel.
