Hello everyone,

So, I'm kind of new to this whole flashing a new rom onto my Galaxy S4 (intl, i9505).
I've been through a massive amount of guides, how-to's and videos. I had decided I either wanted CyanogenMod 10.1 or the "Official Google Edition" from these forums.

As the newbie I am, in this kind of thing, Cyanogenmod seemed to be the easiest way to go (especially as I'm a mac user). So i followed their guide: How To Install CyanogenMod Android for Samsung Galaxy S4 (International LTE) ("jfltexx") - CyanogenMod

This is where the issues begin. I've been able to root my phone, and flash it with ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.4, this is where I'm supposed to install the new Rom. I've tried using the SDcard option (internal) and I've even tried sideloading my new Rom. To no avail!
I keep getting the same "error" message from CWM Recovery:

"Restarting adbd...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted."

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could/should do?

Try redownloading the file.

I assume you mean to the phone?

I've tried redownloading the file from the internet and to the phone several times. As I'm using a mac it's automatically unzipped - but, I've used the standard archiver to re-zip the file.

Without any luck

Sorry for the delayed reply. Something may be happening with the re-zip. Sorry if I may misunderstood your post, but have you tried to get the file with your phone and WiFi?

I know people do it but it's better practice, imo, to not download roms to the phone. Your computer can handle the data transfer better when it comes to data loss/error handling, then put on an Extsdcard, and put that in your phone after double checking the md5. Like I said a lot of people will still use the phone and swear by it but if you do try to make sure it on wifi.
I'm not familiar setting up with a Mac, but if that's tripping you up, do you have access through a friend or family or school that has a PC that may ease the process?

The above post has a better idea.

I'm a Mac person.
The re-zip is the problem.
If it automatically un-zips the file you can go look in the trash for the zipped version.

Once it get's un-zipped and re-zipped you get extra stuff.

HP has a good idea. If you can, try that. Androids and Apples don't play well together.

Thank you so much, this helped instantly!
Right now I really don't see any issues loading in a custom rom from a mac. I just sideload it to the device, seems almost too easy to be true! (once you get the specifics down, anyway) :)
