Cannot log on to Samsung tablet

I have a Samsung tablet which was bought from new. For some reason that I've forgotten, I had to do a factory reset. However, whenever I try to log on to the tablet, I get a message coming up saying "unable to sign in to device due to an unknown error. Please try anotyher account or try to sign in in 24 hours"

I did change the password, but I have received a Google verification code, but I still can't proceed. The email address and password are correct.
 
Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet? When you say it was bought from new, do you mean it was brand new, and never owned by someone else?

If you did a factory reset and then changed your Google account password, you have to wait 24 hours before you can set up a new device.
 
The tablet was brand new when it was purchased. I have changed my password, and also received an authentication code from Google, but whenever I try to log on to the device, I get the "unable to sign in" message
 
Because the password had been reset, I was told that I had to have a verification code sent to my phone, which was accepted fine by the device. However, when I tried to log on with the new password, I still get the "unable to sign in" message.
