Cannot open swipe keyboard with Sprint upgrade to Sandwich

Even though swipe is listed as default, when I try to type into a fill in field in any application I receive a message saying it cannot open swipe keyboard. Galaxy II

I'm in the same boat. I get the error message - Open of EnglishUS failed!

I had the same problem, try this:

Clear storage in the Swype application using this path: Settings > Applications > All tab > Swype > Clear data

it worked for me.

Thanks... unfortunately that doesn't work for me. The clear data button is greyed-out..

What I had to do was change from using the Swype keyboard to the Samsung keypad:
Settings>> Language and input>> Keyboards

The checkboxes for my keypad selections are greyed-out as well. What I had to do was select the icon on the right side and it allowed me to change keypads after toying around with the options. I think it was Select Input.
