Cannot return to stock from Fresh 3.3.0.1

I need to restore my phone to stock as it has to be returned to Sprint and I've tried just about every thread I could Google, with no luck. The phone has the following:

Fresh 3.3.0.1
3.29.651.5
ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1
S-On

No matter which stock RUU I try, it always ends up telling me it's older than what's already installed and is not the proper rom updater - I'm guess because I'm already updated to the latest OTA thanks to Fresh. I also tried a recovery pc36img that someone had posted not long ago as a way to 'unroot' and that also says 'main is older...'. Can't complete.

Is there anything else anyone can think of trying. I'm not averse to wading through terminal on OS X and using ADB to do it but it seems as if I've tried almost everything at this point.

Thanks in advance. Beer and adulation to the conqueror of this problem.

Matt

It would help if you had S-Off. Try Unrevoked 3.2.1 to get that. Do you have a nandroid backup of your stock? That was the first thing I did (to make a NB of my stock).

Really?? S-Off instead of S-On? I'd thought that was one thing the stock RUUs were looking for. Did I get it reversed?

And like a total idiot, I've no backup of stock image. :/

Thanks for the reply.

You're a genius. S-Off fixed it. I used a 3.26.651 update. It successfully completed and then soon as I rebooted, was alerted there wa an OTA update. Seems as if everything appears back to normal.

Wow. Thanks again!

if i do this i will lose root forever? or i can root it again?

You can just use a 3.29 ruu and it wont give you that error.

3.26 is the old froyo ota.

Go to the unrooting sticky and click on the download from the xda thread.

Yes. 3.29 is rootable.
