Android Central Question

Ok, I've chatted with both Google Support and Verizon support. Verizon sent me a new Pixel 5. It came with Android 11. As soon as it updated to Android 12, I lost the ability to send emails. They just sit in the Outbox. Also, if I open mail.google.com on my computer and delete or move emails, the changes take about 10-15 minutes to reflect on the phone. So far Google has offered no help. Verizon states since a new phone didn't fix the issue, they can't help me either.

What was weird though is an email did send. I sent an email a few days ago. It sat in my outbox on the phone and yesterday it sent. But, then I tried to send another email and it's stuck in the outbox.

I am using the native Gmail app and I am not using a VPN. My phone is running stock everything.

Ok, and what about the question re: wi-fi vs mobile data? Does it happen on both?

I cleared the data and forced stopped gmail and still broke. One thing I see is under accounts in settings and gmail, it shows a whole bunch of sliders to sync gmail, calendar, etc. Gmail is selected on, but it shows it hasn't synced in over a day. I tried toggling it off and on and still not syncing.

The problem happens on both wifi and cellular.

Another thing go to try is Uninstall the update to Gmail, long press Gmail app then tap info>3 dots upper right corner tap and Uninstall the update, don't let play store automatically update and see if it ok with previous version

So, I didn't see a way to uninstall Gmail. But, when I went to app settings, it had an uninstall button. I tapped it and I think it uninstalled an update. It didn't uninstall gmail. (Figure you can't.) Still can't send emails with the update uninstalled.

Strange , I have the pixel 5 and Gmail works fine , let it update and check once more

did you also update to android 12? i'm wondering if something maybe is a miss with my gmail account on the web. But, not sure why any setting on the web would cause it to break when upgrading to android 12.

Yeah been on andriod 12 since beta then got the update for stable release

I found a website that mentioned maybe 2FA is causing the issue. I just turned off 2FA and still having the problem. Cleared gmail storage and still not working.

Just sending is a issue? Receiving no problem?

One thing I just tried. We use Gmail for my work. I have a work profile for my work gmail on my phone. I can send emails from my work's gmail. The work gmail and personal gmail should be using the same exact binaries... So, it's somehow specific to my personal gmail account..

Did you already try removing your Google account and then adding it back, as mustang7757 suggested above?

Just installed 12 on my 5a and had the same problem. Turned off battery saver with no help. Left it turned off, cleared cache, force stop and rebooted seems to have fixed it. Just enabled battery saver and still ok for now
