I am on a stock 4.02 Galaxy Nexus and today my text messaging feature totally stopped working. After a battery pull and reboot did not resolve the issue I called tech support and they had me pull the battery and sim card while the agent re-provisioned my account for sms/mms. When we rebooted the phone the issue still was not resolved. We also did a complete wipe on my phone and then he created a trouble ticket and when I called back about 2 hours later the result was "it's a software issue (known) with ICS and I will have to wait for the update to resolve it, but it should be released by the end of May."

What I am wondering is if anyone else is having this issue, and if you have found a way to resolve it that does not involve unlocking or rooting.

I know there is an issue with MMS if you are on WiFi. You would have to delete the messages and resend them again when you are only on the cell network.

I had the same issues when I had my Nexus. Tech support wiped my phone and gave me a new sim card. After a week of calling with a trouble ticket number Verizon told me the same story about the software issues. I told them I'm not paying for a service and can not use my phone. Four weeks later and a phone calls to a district manager I was given a new RAZR MAXX :)

As Wolverine said. This is a known issue that occurs on wi-fi. Try turning wi-fi off and see if you can send texts on 3G/4G. You have to create a new text as the ones that were queued from not being sent when on wi-fi will not be sent.

What I noticed was that it wouldn't send regardless of wi-fi or not as long as I had added text to the MMS message. So if I sent just the pic, it would go. If I added text, it would not. Verizon is a bunch of useless ****** bags when it comes to assistance, so don't waste your time with them...

I've tried the stock and hand cent SMS aps, wifi on and off still no texting. Now I cannot make or receive calls either. I used my daughters phone and called tech support back and they told me to take it to a corporate store and try a new sim card and if that doesn't fix it see if they can set me up with another Nexus....

I had to wipe my device to get this issue fixed. I almost called up CS to complain about this as in my opinion, ability to send a MMS or an email with an attachment is a basic funciton that MUST work. If you cannot get it to work, call up CS and let them know that you are extremely unhappy and ready to change carriers if they cannot provide you with an immediate solution, replacement phone, or different phone that works.

Their response of "wait for the update" isn't acceptable in my opinion on this one.

When I called back a 3rd time the agent suggested that I get a new sim card today, of course this was well after all the stores had closed yesterday. If the first agent had suggested this I could have done it right away. I am willing to wait until the stores open she also stated that if the sim card doesn't fix my issues that the store should be able to give me a "loaner phone" until my replacement can get here. We'll see what happens this afternoon.

Yes data is enabled, I could still get my email and surf the web. I took the phone to a corporate store and they swapped the sim card and it seems to be working OK. Except now its constantly power cycling on its own.

Can you tell me if Blue Suede Shoes is still open? I used to hang out there a lot when I was stationed at Great Lakes. I was a member of the Table 22 Crew with a few other regulers.

I've just started having this problem where I can receive texts just fine but whenever I try to send them I get the message that they cannot be sent

Started having this issue suddenly today as well, any time I attempt to send a text it says "Currently can't send your message. It will be sent when the service becomes available."

I had the same issue with my Galaxy Note i717...It's a common issue with ALL Samsung phones..The easiest fix is taking your SIM card out and putting it into a different phone from the same provider.Turn that phone on and do a test text to your number..After that put SIM back into your phone and your good..It's a system error on there side not the phone but they have yet to find the cause of the problem, only this trick around it..The other option which I don't care for is a factory reset. If you choose this method make sure to make a back up because your phone will loose anything you put in it.It will be as it was when purchased out of the box.
