Hello,

I have a 2016 Mazda 6 and am having trouble with some of the bluetooth features. For the most part they all work great. Since day 1 I have been unable to have text messages read to me or receive notifications even though their website lists the GS4 as a supported device. Also it does import a contact list, but only about 135 (the max is 1000) and my book probably has closer to 1000+ in it. They also seem to have no pattern to what is imported. I.e. there are many numbers I manually entered into my first cell phone years ago, however my parents and brother for some reason aren't listed in there. There are also newer entries from just a week or two ago. In addition there are random email addresses both from work and my alternate email address that is imported (to show that it is just not 1 account that is getting imported). I called Mazda customer service and they had my unpair/ repair and this did not do anything. His second recommendation was to use a app called "bluetooth phonebook". I have tried the trial version and now I import "235 out of 240" which is not my full book and my most important contacts are missing. The app confirmed that it was connected to my car but the UI isn't all that helpful. Does anyone know how to use this app or another or have any recommendations? Thanks!

Specs:
Phone - Samsung Galaxy S4 running android 5.0.1
Car - Mazda6 running the most recent software

The guy on the phone said that lollipop messed up a lot of their software and there is no patch available as of yet.
He also did not know the status on Mazda partnership with Android Auto. They are listed as partners on the website, but no updates on when it will be coming :(

Welcome back! Try opening the Contacts app, tap Menu>Contacts to Display, then select Customize (instead of All Contacts). Then choose all contact groups you want to display (which can be all of them). This is how I got my Nexus 5 to work on a 2008 BMW.

On my phone the "Contacts to display" works perfectly... only shows those that have phone numbers. The ones in the car do not reflect this list.

Darnit. Did you already try unpairing the phone, then re-pairing it again after doing the Customize Contact to Display thing?

Yes I had the customized list prior to paring the first time. As I mentioned the car only imports 135 contacts when I have closer to 1000 numbers.

Good morning! I just read this yesterday and recently bought a 2015 mazda 6. I found on a different forum the resolution. It is not to download that Bluetooth app as that may work. The problem is... If you have social media contacts linked to your contacts in your phone it is causing a block in fully downloading all your contacts through the sync system in your mazda. What the tech said on the other forum is to unlink your social media from your contacts in your phone (ie: facebook, linkedin...so on) . So simply go to your apps downloaded on your phone and removed the sync to your contacts. Restart your phone, then remove and reconnect your device to your mazda sync and redownload your phonebook and I promise you all of them will be there. I did this last night and it fixed the problem. No need to download another app to have your contact list fully download. I hope this helps anyone who will experience this. I love my new Mazda..

Thank you very much! I will try this, but I am getting a new phone in like a week so I may wait until after. That does sound like it would work and makes sense the connections are the problem. Thanks a lot!

Hi Dave, have u tried Tricia's solution? Is it working for you?
It seems that I have a completely same problem as you did (even with the same cellphone - S4)
Thanks.

I've been googling around and I found the possible solution that kind of works for me. It's the android app called Bluetooth Phonebook (goo[dot]gl/BTgD4M) and you can read more about the use of it here: goo[dot]gl/P06tQR
Replace [dot] with real . and put https:// in front of it.

It's still does not sync all the contacts that I've got (synced from gmail) in the cell-phone, but it gives you possibility to choose groups u want to sync via bluetooth. Before, my most important contacts (mother, wife,...) haven't been synced but after I've selected the GROUP FAMILY to sync it was synced with no problem. Unfortunately not all the contacts are usually divided into the groups, so EITHER you create more groups and divide your contacts, so the most unrelevant contacts are not assigned to any group and therefor not synced OR you just make groups for the contacts you want to sync and rest of them won't be synced.

I've also spoken with the MAZDA dealer and they've told me that MAZDA 2015 is only syncing contacts (flawlessly) that are saved directly in the device and not planning to change the policy soon. :(
