Android Central Question

I have an HTC one M8 and recently when I restarted my phone I think it may have updated the software. I can't see any difference apart from the lock screen, which looks different.
I tried to use the android pay app and it told me to turn on NFC as it's a requirement for contactless payments. When I go to turn it on in the settings menu the slider looks as if its about to go from off to on then jumps back to off.
I have also tried wiping the cache partition but nothing seems to work.

android version: 6.0
HTC sense version: 7.0

That suggests wither a problem with the firmware or the NFC chip itself. A system update would have prompted you to download and accept -- you don't remember that happening?

No. Theres been times where the battery completely runs out then when I re charge the phone the software is slightly different. I remember having to change settings etc. because they had reverted back to the original ones. Contactless payments has always worked on my phone. This problem has only come about since I got the glass replaced on my phone. I don't see how it could be linked though.

Replacing the glass might have involved some other disruption to the phone's internal components. I'd talk with the person who replaced the glass and ask if this might be the case.
