Cannot update google maps

Folks,

I read there was an update to G maps and tried to get it in my nexus. However the strangest thing happened.

Maps does not show up on my list of available apps. However, with a manual search in the play store I can find it and shows up as update (so the store recognizes I have it installed) and when I hit the update button I get an error message, something about the app being ready in a few minutes.

Any ideas why is this happening? Even better how to fix it?

Had the same problem. Went to Google Play on the pc and sent it to my phone - installed just fine that way

I too had the same issue with trying to update to the latest version of Google maps. Its not listed as installed under my current apps. But is listed when i tried to reinstall it via Play Store.

I also had tried to uninstall the app.. but the option was not available. And also had tried to reinstall it via PC.. but that didnt seem to work either...

Same here. My wife's nexus got it tho. Hopfully they fix this problem

This seemed to go the deed for me. I went to the play store, browsed for the app and clicked on update. The newest version was then pushed to my G Next right away!

Another thing you could try is clearing data of the play store in the application setting not sure if that will work but worth a try. I didn't have any problems updating my maps but I'm running a custom rom which may be the reason why.

Ive been getting this error message... And I am currently running Google Maps 6.0.1. When everyone else is running on 6.5?

I am getting the same error even after a reboot.

As long as Google maps is functional, i am not worried. Just a little annoying that the app is not listed under "My Apps".

Im sure google will fix it. (i hope)

Yesterday, my update was unsuccessful as well. Today, it installed perfectly. I'd suggest a reboot and retry.

Just updated to 6.5. It seems to be working correctly.

I give up.... still unable to update to maps ver 6.5. Still stuck on 6.0.1. Did a power shut down. Still didnt work. Pulled battery out and still didnt work..

Would it be possible for you to post up the steps that allowed you to upgrade to the most current version? Thanks

I am having the same problem, still can't update. I have been told to download the update through the PC and then the upgrade should go through on the phone.

Yup. Tried to install it via google.play.com and that didnt work either. Also didnt allow me to uninstall it via pc as well.

Its kinda funny.. i couldnt find most of google's native apps under "My Apps" in the play store. But its actually been installed on my phone.

Google glitch?
