Can't answer incoming calls on the Nexus 5

Re: Nexus 5 Cannot answer incoming call

I now know for sure under what conditions this occurs. Maybe someone has an idea of why and what is needed to fix it. This never happens when connected to 3G only, which may be why more people are not seeing it. When connected to LTE it occurs maybe 1/2 the time, maybe more. I have tested this now for 2 days and it seems very consistent.

I do agree with comments. I changed from LTE(default selection) to 2g as supported my network carrier and this problem looks to be disappeared....

Strange sound when I open the lock. Is he warns about something that's wrong? Often not the main button activates the screen. What to do?! Im going crazy :(

I m also facing same problem once in 10-15 days. My screen goes blank and i m not able to pick call. Moreover if i tried to make call, it does not show calling screen and i can not able to disconnect the call. Infact factory reset has not done anything in resolving it. Anybody know solution, please help.

same problem here. Does not happen all the time. Previous poster explains the problem exactly. Started happening maybe 3-4 week ago

You answer the incoming call on a nexus 5 by quickly touching the screen on the WEST side "as you are looking down on it" and then quickly sweeping your finger across your screen to the EAST side "as you are looking down" and do this TWICE. Works for me. Remember it's WEST to EAST.

This is happening often. When I have an incoming call the call screen appears and phone rings. I go to answer by dragging the icon to the green answer icon and nothing happens. The phone continues to ring. Trying to drag to the red ignore call icon has the same result. Eventually the caller gets sent to voicemail, but the phone remains locked in this state and needs to be rebooted before it is operational again. I thought it was related to teh phone being in a lockscreen state, but it now appears to be random. I have contacted Google and they said they have not heard of this issue before. Essentially it is unusuable as a phone. Anyone seen this issue or have any idea what might be going on? I have the phone on Sprint if that makes any difference. Thanks.

Since auto-updating to Android 6, my Nexus 5 refuses to respond when I try to answer calls. If this device can't prioritize responding to phone calls above all other functions, there is no point having it.

My phone did it infrequently until it auto-updated to Android 6. So far it has never let me answer a call since it "upgraded." Incoming calls lock up the phone. I can't even properly power it down, because it asked for confirmation, but won't respond when I try to confirm. The only solution is to hold down the power button until it eventually reboots. I'm likely to break the screen from repeated panicked attempts to answer a call. This problem is a deal-breaker. If a phone won't allow calls to be answered, it is only a brick.
