Can't arrange apps in Nova Launcher?

I just got Nova Launcher which I spent about 2 hours setting up (I'm really bad at this android stuff) and I find that I can't rearrange my app drawer, what the hell?! Even the stock launcher has this function. I searched the internet for some solutions but while there are others with this problem, there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

I'm so used to clicking on menu to look at my apps and typically that's where you go to look at all the apps, as only the main ones are at the home page. Can't believe I might revert back to the stock launcher because of this. If anyone has figured it out or know of a solution, please share you wisdom.

I find it hard to believe Nova would overlook something like this, so I'll apologize for slamming Nova in case I'm just too stupid to figure it out.

I think what you want to do is a Prime feature. At least on the options on my S3 with Nova, I can arrange folders etc, with Prime.

Yes you can rearrange it kinda. Nova Settings -> Drawer -> Drawer Groups. Hit the + button at the top name it whatever, then select the new tab you made and add whatever apps you want In it. Or instead of making a new tab you can choose folder in that same page, add and name hit edit and add whatever apps and then you'll have a folder at the first position when you open the app drawer.
Not sure if these remain alphabetical or if there's an option to reorder them once you're in the folder or tab but it's a heck of a lot more customizing than no option at all.
Hope some of that helps.

You can create custom tabs in the app drawer and organize them that way. For example, you could have a games tab and a social media tab, etc.

However, I believe it only allows them to be sorted by alphabetical order within those tabs.

Thanks for the answer. I typically leave my app drawer alone, and I customize my homescreens like there is no tomorrow.

I'm the same way, usually but it's nice to folder up the app drawer just to keep it all together on one page.

I am using Prime but it doesn't have that option, though I am using an S4

Yeah they do remain in an alphabetical order. I think I might have to resort to just stuff it all in folders. It just seems weird that you have to arrange it in an alphabetical order. Most people I know use the app page to access their apps and not the home screen, they generally don't customize their home screen. So it's just odd that you're restricted in the app page.

I am using tabs but just 2 for the moment, apps and folders. I can't do it like how you said because some of the categories might have only 1 or 2 apps (i.e. music) which has only 3 apps in it. It wouldn't make sense to dedicate a whole page to 3 apps.

I think I'll just have to do it via folders, really not happy about the alphabetical order though, I like arrange my mostly used folders in the second and third row, while keeping my home screen to one page with just a few apps.

Okay, I was tweaking around a little and I found another way to approach this and make it neat.

1. In drawer groups, there are two categories - Tabs and Folders. Under the Folder category create a few folders i.e. Tools, Recreation, Misc.
2. Go to Tabs, create a tab called Folders then click on it and tick Tools, Recreation and Misc.
3. Now go back to Folders category, create folders to group apps in i.e. Music, Games, Photography, Wallpapers, Utilities, Security.
4. Fill up the group apps i.e. Music (winamp, spotify), Games (angry birds, where's my water), Photography (camera, instagram), Wallpapers (zedge, wallbase), Utilities (settings, calculator), Security (AVG, lookout).
5. Finally, under the folders category, click Tools and tick utilities and security. Then do the same for Recreation and Misc

This will give you folders within a folder, it will allow you to keep your app screen to just one page and more organized as well. Very useful for anal people like me. Hope this helps someone.

I was also just messing around with this and if you number the apps in the label you can rearrange them non alphabetical.

Doesn't look as pretty but at least there's a way,

I was thinking the same thing, but who really wants numbers on their app screen, beauty before function I say! Oh well, time to get used to the home screen I guess. Still, it's a good tip for those who don't mind it.

You guys are on the right track. Nova will arrange your app drawer alphabetically and you can’t change that. But you can arrange a home page any way you want, so…
As most people suggest, organize your app drawer with folders to get down to one page. Then drag the folders and apps on that page to a second home page. Instead of touching the app drawer icon to get to your apps, swipe to get to the second page. On that page you can arrange to your hearts desire. And you don’t have to put everything on that page. For example, I have a Samsung folder with Samsung apps I either can’t delete or am not sure about as well as Sprint apps that I will probably never use. That folder can stay in the app drawer, no need to put it on the second home page.

Now, if you have multiple home pages this may not be as convenient. Maybe rethink why you have so many home pages – lots of widgets? Put your widgets to the left of the home page, your folders and apps from the app drawer to the right. Need a widget, go left. Want your apps, one swipe to the right and you are there.

Hope this helps.

Sure you can! I just drag and drop. Sometimes I kinda miss and start the app instead, but you can arrange them any way you want.:D
