Can't believe iPhone X has a better and bright screen than our Note 8

The iPhone X is a horse of a different wheelbase. It's smaller, slower & destroys itself if dropped.

This comparison is similar to the Pixel 2 XL and V30. The Pixel has a better camera than the V30 even though both are made by LG

This.

This too. The iPhone 7 generation was more accurate than the S7 series, S8 series and Note 8 already, this iPhone X just widened the gap in both sRGB (Samsung's basic) and in DCI-P3.
Really? Does anyone buy a phone for color reproduction? Is that all you have to go on comparing the 2 devices?

I'm not following your questions. I doubt very many people buy a phone due to any single spec, let alone one aspect of display quality. But people do skip buying phones for a single feature all the time, probably including color accuracy. And I'm not commenting on which device is better over all, I'm commenting on color accuracy comparison between the devices. The former is very complicated, the latter is a black and white (or in this case black, white, red, green and blue) measurable comparison.

Lol. I do not care if the iPhone x has a brighter screen than the note8. I wouldn't be able to handle a phone brighter than my note8. Samsung can sell their stuff to whoever they want. They making money from it lol.
Right?! These phones are bright enough. Who r we kidding.

I think the quality of the screen is important to most when buying a phone which includes color reproduction along with brightness, etc.

No one wants to shell out $1000 for a flagship and have a red tint on images like on the S8s right? No one wants a poor looking display where colors that are not true to the original right? At the very least we want images to be as close to true as possible. As much as many like some punchiness or over saturation in colors and images, many don't want it at ridiculous levels.

I like it that the Note gives you options on choosing the color profile you like and do go with Samsung's Active Display setting myself for a little punchiness.

From Displaymate, (The X display) "is the most color accurate display that we have ever measured. It is Visually Indistinguishable from Perfect, and is very likely considerably better than on any mobile display, monitor, TV or UHD TV that you have. So photos, videos, and online content and merchandise will appear correct and beautiful." That's why you want a color accurate display.

Apples thing is going for accuracy and probably worked with Samsung and maybe even display mate to do it. Samsung could easily do this if they wanted.

The Note was the best a couple of months ago... now it's the X. They are just tuning these things better and better and it benefits all of us in future models. It is just one site though like DXOMARK is for testing camera quality so take it for what it is.

There seems to be a few links to confirm... I thought our screen goes double the brightness...?
Just disappointed if true that Samsung would supply a better screen to their competitors...

From the articles, seems the note can only do the high levels for parts of the screen "The iPhone X has a record high Full Screen Brightness for OLED Smartphones of 634 nits, which improves screen visibility in high Ambient Light. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 can produce up to 1,240 nits, but only for small portions of the screen area (Low Average Picture Levels) – for Full Screen Brightness the Note8 can produce up to 423 nits with Manual Brightness and 560 nits with Automatic Brightness only in High Ambient Light"

Can't wait to laugh about burn-in on where the X has that almost-permanent bar that replaced the home screen at the bottom.

Does anyone really care? As long as everybody is happy with the device of their choice... Play nice children, it doesn't matter what size you daddy's car is...

When I use the camera in bright sun with sun behind me I can't get too much brightness. Could always use more.
^This

The access to higher brightness IF NEEDED is a good thing. So even if you don't need it now, it's there if ever the need arises.

But, knowing Samsung, they'll have an even better screen on the S9 and Note 9. If Apple stays with Samsung panels, then the next iPhone wil be better since it will come out after the next Note, and the cycle continues.
