Can't Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery? Need Help

I'm trying to install CyanogenMod on my rooted Froyo 2.2 Captivate using the instructions on this page. I flashed the kernel following the instructions and installed ROM Manager from the marked. I selected ClockworkMod 2.x as per the instructions and then clicked "Boot into recovery" but when it boots I get this screen...

Can someone please advise what is going wrong? I have followed the instructions precisely.

UPDATE:

I was able to get around this by using the hardware boot method (holding volume up & down and the power button at boot), found here. It appears the problem is just when using mod manager to boot into recovery. Possibly because I don't have CyanogenMod installed yet? I was trying to make a backup of the stock ROM first.
