Good old Rom Manager!

sent from my CM7/Reborn w/ 1 Gb internal storage Optimus S

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did

Everyone ever play the game Alchemy? It's Like when you put two items together and get something that is useless, but then the useless thing has combinations that you didn't think would happen...

Cluelessness + YouTube = Management Material

Management Material + Android = ROM Manager

ROM Manager + Phone = Brick

2141 posts between the 3 of you and that's the best you can do. I guess that's why the OP has a grand total of 1 post. And he/she didn't even hit the Thanks...

Turn the phone off... Hold vol down, home, and power at the same time. The lg screen should come up for a second, then should black screen, then a menu screen should come up where the vol keys change option and menu is ok...

Let me know if you can get there.

Alright, I'm having a slow day at work, so I will revisit this wonderful gem of a post:

i downloaded a rom
Yay for you! Which ROM and from where? Did you install it? How?

.but that rom wont let me get google play or any other downloads
Every stock-based ROM I've ever seen includes Vending.apk... Is it an AOSP or source-based ROM? Do you have wifi/data/phone? If not, what baseband are you on? Have you added your Google account? If it's an AOSP ROM, did you flash Gapps as instructed?

& i cant get into recovery mode ...........
What methods have you tried? Power menu? Key combo? ADB? Terminal emulator?

my phone might not even have [a recovery]
Well, did you install a custom one or not? How is it that you don't know?

its a LG optimus S .it's rooted
Okay, at least you are in the right device section...

& i just want to bring it get rid of that terrible rom "CM9-THUNDERC-ALPHA0-unsigned"
Where did you get the ROM? How did you install it? What recovery are you using? Did you make a nandroid?

While it is possible that this user simply did not flash Gapps on a CM9 install, there isn't nearly enough information to be certain. When someone doesn't know if they even have a custom recovery and can't get into it, but has managed to install CM9 at alpha0, I really don't know what to say to that. It's kinda going to your grandma's house to find a prototype Formula 1 racer in the garage. She calls you over to ask where the thing that goes P-R-N-D might be found over the roar of the engine.

Honestly, most cm builds do not come with "market" or any google apps... But there us a package available ;)

I remember reading somewhere here that there is a legal issue with distributing Gapps in any non-stock based ROMs, which would include CM.

Its just like emulators, its illegal to include the bios file...

I have a LG Optimus V, but there's one problem: Earlier today, I got CM7 NIGHTLY, and put it on my SD Card. I launched Recovery Mode and Wiped everything: Cache, Data, and Dalvik Cache. I then installed the CM7 NIGHTLY, then this GAAPS file. Both were ZIPS, but separate in the SD Card. I then rebooted and, like normal, it showed the LG screen. After that it only showed a black screen. Its still black now, and I'm trying to figure out why. I tried entering Recovery mode by pressing the Home Button, Volume Up/Down, and Power at the same time, but nothing happened, except for a vibration. I'm wondering if there's any program I could use to reinstall Virgin Mobile or another Custom Mod on my phone. Somebody please reply as soon as possible. :'(

Good old Rom Manager

Does this mean I'm stuck with an unrooted zvj? Or can I stop the music with a workaround, recover a recovery and root my LS670zvj and then install CMx so as to listen to the music of the roots? it's all there on the μSDCard.

I'm not understanding. Did you brick your phone with ROM manager too? Either way you can't get CM on zvj yet as it's only been done for zvd and zvh so far.

Is there any way to get the phone "un-bricked"? I rooted mine with cm-7 worked great. Installed gapps even better, then after doing some reasearch on here discovered I screwed up by installing rom manager from google play store. Thinking it would give me more control over settings etc. Now the phone is completely in operable when I turn it on. Then when I try to boot into recovery the LG logo appears then is gone and the screen is black and does absolutely nothing at all. Is there a way I can fix this or is my phone screwed and I need a new one?

maybe... If you can power it on, hook to pc and see if you can get into adb shell...
