I have had my nexus 4 for one week and cant buy anything in the play store. I get an error message and then emails to say wait 48 hours but it isn't getting fixed. Google are fobbing me off with the same email every time and fixing nothing. Does anyone have any advice? Seriously considering sending this back as they have messed me about something shocking since I started dealing with them.

What does the error message say?

I get the same error message, when trying to paying using a sprint account. I don't think Sprint allows that feature.

Can you purchase a free app from a browser on a PC? The answer would help diagnose whether it's the device or the account.

Oh yeah, and what does the error say? :D :D

It says error. Your payment could not be processed at this time. You may receive an email asking you to verify your account.
But I've only had emails telling me to make sure I've got my address on wallet and that I wont be charged and to wait 48 hours. I've done all this but it doesn't get fixed. I also spoke to someone but they said to wait but nothing happened.
Yes free apps work. Its music I'm trying to buy.
I've no idea what a sprint account is.

Call your bank or use a different card. It sounds as though a security feature is denying your card and that would be a problem on your banks side.

I second the suggestion to try a different card. I had nothing but trouble trying to use a virtual account number, and heard many problems with debit cards and prepaid cards too.

and you were trying to send back the phone because you couldn't buy a music?? hmmm.
go to google music website and buy it.

No I am thinking about sending it back because Google are ignoring all my emails about my account problem, because the first time I ordered the phone they cancelled it a week later. The second time I ordered it they accidently sent and charged me for two even though I said I didn't want two. I have been waiting over a week for an email containing a print out to send it back. I never had any problems like this with apple.
I also only have one bank account and don't see why I should have to set another up just to please Google.

To please Google? I'm pretty sure they don't care one way or the other. However, if you want to buy from the Play Store, you need to use a payment method they accept.

It's not to please Google. I run credit and debit cards all day long and they aren't consistent from card to card. The majority of people I've talked to on the subject have no idea there card works differently. Banks are aware of this and you need to call your bank up and say, make it work.

The llama toter is correct. I tried buying a charity lotto ticket (cancer society or something legit like that) on line with my credit card once, wouldn't go through. Tried a different card and went through no problem. Turns out the credit card company/issuer had a set no lottery policy. Had to call them up and ok it before I could make it work for these kind of purchases. Also, if your billing address for your credit card doesn't match up with what you have registered with Google, this will cause all sorts of Nopes on Google's side.
