Can't change test notification sound

Is anyone else having this problem? I can't seem to change it from the default sound, under settings>sound>notification it shows what I choose but texts still play a different sound.

Go to messaging, click the menu button (three dots) select settings, notifications, and change the notification sound that way

No problem It's set up the same way through most versions of sense, and when I first got my phone I thought I was losing my mind

On my version of S3, I have to open messaging, then use the menu button on bottom left to get to that location. However, thank you! I didn't realize I had to change it in two locations.

You don't have to change it in two locations. Text notifications are changed in app. Email in app as well. System wide notification sounds are changed in phone settings.
