Can't Change Text Ringtone (Default App)

Hi-

When I go into the settings of the Messaging application, and then scroll down to the Sounds area, the ability to change the text ringtone is grayed out.

Is anyone else having this problem? I've never seen this before and I have no idea why you can't change the text ringtone.

Yes, I know that I can go to "Settings > Sound" and change the default notification, but I just want to change the text ringtone.

Not sure why that's happening - it's working fine on my phone (Verizon, 4.1.1).
Have you tried restarting the phone?
Do you have any 3rd party messaging apps installed?
Are you using Light Flow?

You may be in silent mode while you're looking at the messaging settings. Toggle your volume up a notch and then take a look.

The phone wasn't on silent. I actually just rebooted the phone, and then was able to choose a ringtone.

When I rebooted, and went back into settings, I could choose a different ringtone, but each one I selected made no sound. (Not on silent)

Flash forward 8 hours; Now I can choose a different ringtone and it makes a sound. Haha, no idea what happened.

Just wanted to report back that it is now working. Thanks for your help!

Had the same problem. The option above ringtone, "notifications," which refers to status bar notification of an incoming message, has to be checked first in order to enable the ringtone selection.
