Trying to connect my Galaxy S7 to my car's SYNC system with bluetooth. SYNC recognizes my phone when pairing but says "Connection Failed". Phone says it's connected to SYNC for calls and media. It will connect to play music thru SYNC. Bluetooth icon on SYNC display does not light. It has always connected properly until recently and don't know what might have changed other than a recently installed security update to the phone, which is running Android 8.0.0. My old Galaxy S4mini still connects to SYNC bluetooth properly, so my problem is with my S7 and not with SYNC. Any ideas?

Try erasing that device from sync then add again and pair them back up..

Which make and model year is the car? Have you checked to see if there are any firmware updates for the car's system?

2010 Ford Flex. SYNC system is up to date and no longer supported. My S7 has always connected properly until recently. Also, I've connected 2 other phones with no problem, so I'm pretty sure my S7 is the problem and not the SYNC system. Problem started about the same time my S7 stopped notifying me of new voicemails. Any chance the 2 problems are related? Seems quite farfetched to me.

Hard to say -- it's possible some recent update in Google Play Services might have caused some compatibility issue. How old are the other two phones that don't have a problem?

Have you tried my suggestion with developer settings different Bluetooth settings?

OK I'm an *****. How do I find that?
Go to build number in settings>about phone >software information and tap it 7 times
Once it's enable back out to settings at very bottom developer settings then turn on and search the buletooth settings

Those phones are older than the S7, so this remains a possibility.

I have 3 choices under Bluetooth AVRCP Version. Tried all 3, no help. Also rebooted the SYNC, no help there either. I can't help but think that the problem is somehow connected with the September security patch update. Both problems started about the time I installed that update to my S7.

What security patch is it on at the moment?
