I have two pairs of BT headphones, AKG Y50 and B&W P5, on all my previous phones I could control the BT volume using the volume button on my headphones but for some reason with the Mate 10 Pro you can't seem to do that, my Sony Z3, Sony XA1 Ultra, Moto G6 Plus, Nokia 7 Plus, when you tap the volume controls on the headset you see the BT volume slider move up and down on the phone but no joy on the Mate 10 pro, and then also nearly everyday the play/pause won't work anymore and I have to restart the phone, I heard rumors that the BT doesn't work well on this phone I guess they were true :-(

I have 3 different pairs of Bluetooth headphones. On all 3 I can control the volume just fine from the headphones themselves. It doesn't move the volume slider on the phone though, just changes the volume on the headphones. I just make sure the volume on the phone is turned right up then change the volume via the buttons on the headphones.

Yes you can do that but that is a work around, that isn't how it should function, if you go into developers options under the bluetooth settings you'll see an option named 'absolute volume', that feature is broken on this phone as you can see you have the option to disable it but it's on by default, when it's on you should be able to control the devices volume using your headphones volume keys as you can on other android phones.

I wouldn't call it a workaround tbh. For me personally the volume buttons on the headphones all control the volume as required just like they should. I don't see any need for them to control the media volume on the phone. Maybe yourself and others do however?

That's fine, but the fact does remain that the 'Absolute volume' feature is broken on this phone, no other phone that I've used has this problem, I'm glad that it isn't a problem for you but there is a reason nearly all phones have absolute volume on by default.

Yeah I agree about the absolute volume thing. I used to disable it on previous phones to play nice with a few of my Bluetooth speakers but obviously can't do that with the Mate 10 Pro.

It's just one of the many annoyances with this phone that all add up to me counting the days to replace it. Great hardware spoiled by the software and Huawei's stubbornness to give us what we want or need

My Sennheiser Bluetooth headset, no problems. I can use the headphones for volume no problem.
