Cant decide between iPhone or Thunderbolt

My upgrade for Verizon is on Thursday and Im trying to decide between the iPhone and the HTC Thunderbolt. I have pros and cons for each and cant really decide what to get.

iPhone:
Pros- Reliable, more apps, simpler (could be a con too), smaller, better screen
Cons- iPhone 5 coming this summer, I feel like getting the iPhone 4 would be useless if an upgrade will be coming in the next couple months

Thunderbolt:
Pros- Most apps are free, customizable
Cons- Terrible Battery, Thicker, I've heard it will be really out of date in a few months

I also hate how everyone has a huge boner for apple :/

If you think the Thunderbolt will be out of date why would you want the iPhone? It's already out of date.

There has been nothing hinting the release of a new iPhone this summer. at least not to verizon, they just realeased the iPhone 4, on it, so I doubt it'll come out till later in the year.
The iPhone 4 is 7 months (? not sure) old now, soooo it is way out of date.

Thunderbolt is a newer device. gaining a ridiculous amount of apps very quickly. The rate its growing is astronomical.
the fact that its thicker shouldn't be that much of an issue to you. and if you calibrate your battery and disable 4G and a few other tweaks you'll get much better battery life.

Rumor is that the Samsung Droid Charge will be coming out this Thursday and it will be better than the Thunderbolt in a # of ways. It will have a much better GPU, its screen will be just gorgeous, and its battery life should be a little better due to the Super AMOLED+ display and slightly larger battery.

Samsung is notorious for not updating their phones, so if you're not into rooting you may not want to go for it.

Do what I did. Gombuy I iPhone 4 off contract from the apple store. Try it out for 3 or 4 weeks then return it, unless you absolutely love it, then go buy a tb or charge and see which you liked better. I kept the tb, but miss Skype,Netflix, and FaceTime.

I came from an iPhone. The software and hardware are a not more refined but I love the bigger screen and everything I can do with Android that I cant with iOS.

I had pretty much been debating the same thing (iPod vs Android phone) for a couple months now, while I waited for my upgrade date to finally come. I was leaning towards the iPhone for a while, because I've had an iPod Touch for a year, now, and not only do I already have tons of apps and games for it, but I had gotten to know iOS extremely well.

Ultimately, though, I went with the Thunderbolt. As much as I like iOS, I was very curious to try out Android. Plus, I live in a 4G area, so I figured if the data plan is going to be $30 either way, why not get the faster phone?

As far as apps go, I've found that Android has a lot of similar apps to iOS, where it's not much of an issue that the Apple store has "more" overall. Biggest thing I've noticed is that iOS has more (and better) games than most of what's on the Android market. Android seems to slowly be getting some better games, but for the most part, if you want something to game with, you'll probably be better off with the iPhone.

So, to sum it up, if you live in a 4G area, you might as well get the Thunderbolt. If you want a device with a nice selection of games, go with the iPhone.

Get the thunderbolt is great. I just got mine yesterday and haven't put it down yet. If the tbolt will be out of date in a couple of months, then the iPhone 4 will be as well. At least you will get 4G with the tbolt. Samsung won't update their phones so fun with that. The only worth getting over the tbolt is the Bionic, you just have to wait for it.

Why do so many iPhone apps cost money that are free on the Android Market?

I just upgraded yesterday waiting to get my phone but I have used it and these are my pros
-4g honestly faster than my home connection
-Android with great development support: im very interested in roms and rooting

biggest pros for the iphone
-sexy,sleek, small
-great games n music player

So if u want something simple that u can throw in your pocket, makes some calls, play a few games get the iphone. If you feel your more of a power user who will want to tether, and customize and theme your phone go with the tBolt... oh and 4g is fast soo fast.

However, I pray for the day apple and google make sweet sweet engineering love and make a phone with apples hardware and android.

And dont forget about the Camera, the HTC camera is amazing, the pictures are just like from a real picture camera not a phone camera, thats why I love my Thunderbolt!!!

I was a past Samsung owner and trust me they are horrible at updating their phones so I wouldn't trust them on that. But otherwise, the iPhone has been out for a long time whereas the Thunderbolt is new. Larger screen, better camera, 4G, lots of memory, etc. It's your personal choice but to me the iPhone is outdated, the Thunderbolt is what's new.
