Can't delete IMAP account - by Google's design, or issue with LG software?

On my G2, I added a Yahoo email account to the Gmail app as an IMAP account, which is a new feature of the Gmail app. However, I see no way to remove it, either in the general settings or the setting of the Gmail app. I made it stop syncing, but it's still visible. It's kinda weird. There's sort of a loop between the Gmail account settings and the general account settings, where "manage accounts" in the Gmail app wants to send you to the account settings in the general settings, while the general settings want you to go back to the Gmail app settings - but neither actually let you "manage accounts" - only tell them how to sync. Is this by Google's design, that you can't ever disassociate something from the Gmail app once you've adding it, or is this something weird with LG's version of the OS?

What happens if you go to the main system settings, Settings>Accounts, select Yahoo, then tap Menu. Is there a "Remove Account" option in the menu?

It's odd, there were two accounts called "Yahoo" - one of which had the regular Yahoo logo one of which had a logo that looked like Yahoo weather. The regular looking one had no menu at all - nothing pops up - while the other account, when selected, was calling itself "SyncAdaptorAccount" and DID have a "remove account" option - but removing it didn't do anything noticeable - maybe I'll find out later what exactly I removed, but it didn't affect the Yahoo IMAP thing in the gmail app. In fact, upon reboot (did not think to check before reboot), that Yahoo "SyncAdaptorAccount" is still there.

I tried simply uninstalling my Yahoo apps (Yahoo Mail etc) and that does indeed cause the Yahoo "accounts" to be removed from the settings - but the Yahoo IMAP thing is still present in the gmail account with no apparent way to remove it. Going into gmail settings, selecting the yahoo address, selecting the "..." menu and selecting "manage accounts" takes you to general settings. When you you select "Personal (IMAP)" account in the general settings, and then select "account settings," it takes you right back to the gmail app. Pretty funny.

Ah, I think I found a work-around! By uninstalling updates to the Gmail app and going back to the "factory version," it takes the app back to a version that does not support mapping other accounts to it! So the Yahoo linkage is gone. Then after updating back to the current version the Yahoo account is still gone. So the workaround was successful - but I'm pretty sure that's NOT how this is supposed to work. I suspect it's a flaw in LG's settings application, but it could be a problem on the gmail app end.

Good thinking! I don't add my Yahoo account to the Gmail app, because I have my Yahoo mail set up to import directly into Gmail (using the web Gmail settings), so I can't test things out for you. I'll keep my eyes out for any definitive solutions.
