Correct... they took away the ability to disable the dreaded Bixby button. I don’t mind, because I’m actually planning to use it this time, but options are good.

I noticed that the note 9 does not have the option, the s9+ on 8.0 did have the option. You can still disable swiping to the right for bixby

hey thanks for the suggestion! I was having a hard time deciding what to use the button for, I had it set up to do Google Now since I had a pixel before this and it was the most intuitive thing to set it as.

This doesn't sound good. I have a Note 8 with Bixby disabled in settings except for the long press option (but I just noticed the left card swipe got reactivated somehow recently) but I am concerned when they push Bixby 2.0 that they are also going to force this change on Note 8/older phones so I wanted to see what Note 9 owners were doing.

I've avoided Package Disabler because I used it on my Note 8 when first received but I had sw issues that could be due to PD or maybe being too aggressive in disabling stuff. I may have to go back to it and just use it for Bixby.

I love my Note but I don't like being forced to take Bixby when I don't need all of it. At least Apple allows you to not enable Siri from the moment you set up your phone day one and never forced with Google Assistant on other Androids.

My preferences on my N9 is Google Assistant.

However for me not being able to disable the dedicated button or re map it isn't a dealbreaker for me.

I turned off bixby cards.

Who knows I might even give Bixby 2.0 a go. ;)

I've read Package Disabler Pro works on the Note9...

Up until now I used BK Package Disabler. It didn't work on the N9, but is supposed to with some tweaks. I didn't try it - a little too much for me right now.

Tried Package Disabler Pro, and so far so good.

What I'm concerned about now after using a package disabler in past is that with Monthly Security updates can conflict with the disabler and cause issues.

And I just read somewhere... did BK Package Disabler developer go under??

I'm not sure if it was disabler but I had reboot/freezing issues when I first got phone and when I reset my phone, disabler was one of the apps I did not put back in and the phone has been flawless since.

Also, it sounds like Samsung is going to be aggressive with trying to force Bixby and suspect they keep on breaking whatever disabler does.

I'm using bxActions pro, I have it making screenshots. This didn't work reliably on my Note 8, but it has been flawless on my Note 9. I'm going to install it on my mom's Note 9, maybe to launch Google assistant.

It's working for me, but they released an update recently and it states that it may not work if you update. So I haven't.
