Can't download Apps?

Got this phone a few days ago. When I'm at home I have it connected to my home network for wireless net. When I try and d/l some apps it just sits there acting like it's downloading but never does. I can access web pages and such, so I know it's connected to the net. Ideas?

-This is my 1st smart phone
-I did the battery trick thing where u put in *#*# etc like I read on these forums, bought all i've done to the phone.

I had the same problem, and then I reset my phone, signed in with a different google account and it works again (but obviously this is not the best answer, because not everyone has more than one and it is not as convenient to have two on there when I don't use one of them)
I hope we can figure out why this is happening and a better solution.

That sounds pretty easy except I don't want to loose all my contacts again as I had to manually enter them from my old phone /
