Question Wait! My Apps Are Scrambled?

While vacationing in Istanbul, my Home Page totally changed and all my apps are randomly placed over succeeding pages. When crazy things like this have happened in the past, it's been caused by unintentional button presses. Does anyone know what happened?

I've confirmed that my home screen app is One UI. One odd thing is that my Android account is associated with an old work email I haven't used in two years. Perhaps I've been using it all this time without realizing it? I can't find an account with my Gmail account.

I would really appreciate any insights you might have. Not being able to locate my apps is really frustrating! Thanks!

Well, I do have most of my apps, so downloading will be a minimum. I am concerned about the App Drawer, though. In that I don't have one. I get that screen I attached with menus. Something isn't right.
So go into your home screen setting, to get there long press a empty page then tap settings>yours looks like my screenshot?
Home screen layout should be
Home screen and app drawer

Welcome to Android Central! I believe One UI has a homescreen setting to lock the arrangement, to prevent accidental reorganization. Make sure that's turned on after you've set up your home screens back to normal again.

I'm not sure what you mean by your "Android account" -- do you mean the Google account you used to set the phone up with? Is it possible that your phone has multiple profiles set up, and you somehow switched to a work profile?

Good advice from B. Diddy. Also note that both the Nova and Microsoft Launchers allow you to backup and restore your home screen layout, icon positions, etc. when unexplained glitches such as yours occur, or if you have to do a factory reset - or even replace your phone. They can also save multiple home screen profiles if you are one who likes to fool around with different grid layout options, icon packs, widgets, etc.

Thanks for responding! Yes, One UI does have an (unchecked) lock feature. You seem to insinuate that I'm going to have to reorganize my screens. Ugh! However, here's something else that's changed: I used to be able to swipe up to see all my apps arranged alphabetically. I don't have that now. It's so frustrating! Some apps have even disappeared! This all happened with my phone in my pocket. Either I butt pushed a bunch of wrong buttons, or maybe I was hacked?

Yes, you are right; I meant my Samsung account. I thought that maybe I butt-changed my account, losing my profile?

Can you show us a screenshot of your homescreen and App Drawer? Can you still use gestures to navigate, or do you see 3 nav buttons at the bottom of the screen now?

When you say that some apps have disappeared, do you mean from the homescreen only, or also from the App Drawer?

I've attached screen shots from my homescreen and the page I get when I swipe up (app drawer? I used to see all of my apps, alphabetically).

I don't have any problems navigating the pages, they're just not easy to access. I've found at least one app, YouTube, that's no longer visible.Screenshot_20240906_050607_One%20UI%20Home.jpgScreenshot_20240906_050633_Finder_1.jpg

Hello

The home screen doesn't automatically arrange in alphabetical order so that you have to manually do , now when u download new apps it will add to your home screen not in order, go to settings>account and back up >back up Data that way when something happens you can restore anytime.
I would also use Samsung Smart switch which makes a complete back up and restore on PC
