My Samsung Galaxy S6 Active (Android 6.0.1) has stopped auto-rotating, including Kindle books, which I prefer to read in landscape mode. Now I can't find the Auto-rotate button in Settings anywhere. Did an automatic update remove the Auto-rotate function? I have (three button) rebooted the unit but no change.

I'm not aware of anything, such as dropping the unit, that might physically damage the gravity sensor. Do I need to give it a good whack to unstick the gravity detector? Suggestions?

Pull down the notification shade... Screen rotation should be there.

Thanks. That did it. I had looked there, but didn't recognize the symbol.
In my previous phone the Auto-rotate option was in Settings. But I don't find it there in the new phone. Maybe I'm just missing something.

I'm running Kitkat on both my phone and tablet, and there's no auto rotate in "Settings"... both have it only in the notification panel. That said, they must have removed it from settings as far back as at least Kitkat.

 If may Add to the above replies: I've owned Samsung-Galaxy
S2-3-4-5 and skip the Gs6 : Now I've the Gs7 which has the

Auto-Rotate feature in settings and on the Pull-Down icons
panel..Glad that you found it @jhearcht--See You!

Does the name of the setting on your phone actually say "Auto-Rotate"? There is "Screen rotation" in Display settings, and also you can get to the Screen rotation icon in the "Notification panel" settings. My phone doesn't have any setting named "Auto-Rotate". I'm on a Note 4 and Note 10.1 2014.

🗽 Hi nahoku: Your Note4 display the right feature name "Screen rotation"
if you've the Kitkat ver. The feature name changed in SGs6 & Note6
to "Auto-Rotate" known as well as 'Landscape position' So when
you gonna upgrade to Note7 or will wait for Note8.? SeeYa!

Good to know! Thanks!

Upgrade from my Note 4... only when removable batteries come back to Note series. Wishful thinking! See Ya!
