Can't get into recovery mode

For no apparent reason, my password on my new Nexus 7 is not working. By pressing Power, volume up and volume down, I get the option to go into recovery mode, however, after selecting recovery mode, as soon as I push the power button I immediately get the Google logo which stays there indefinitely. Only after pushing the power button multiple times the device will power back on normally, prompting me for the password again.

If I try again and select the restart bootloader option, it just comes back to the android on his back and the same selections, Restart Bootloader, Recovery mode, power off and start.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it is well-known problem. One way around it is to plug the N7 to a computer via the USB cable and do it all again.

But to the OP: I'm not sure why going into recovery would help you, unless you Nandroid.

Not rooted. Luckily I had hooked it up to my corporate account and was able to remotely wipe the device otherwise I'd still be stuck as I've looked everywhere and can't find a solution.

Seems like a bug to me. Good luck.

I had tried that and while my computer recognized the Device I couldn't see any files or any properties. How do you reset via USB?

There is a post about using the factory image to get it back to out of the box settings. Look in the rooting-hacking threads it should be a sticky

If you're rooted, download Quick Boot from the Play Store. It's free, and will automatically reboot into recovery for you.

You just do Power+VolumeDown on the N7, but just with the USB connection to your computer.

I just tried it on my N7 and it worked for me. Does your computer recognize your N7? (Check your Windows Device Manager.)

the reason i was looking to do this particular function was because i had added the upgrade camera info (480-720) manually and it did not work and i was forced to do recovery ,,,,, 3 times later i learned a couple things ... the 2nd time around i figured out that i do not have to restore all only system was enough and that allows me not to have to reinstall apps either.. i also figured out its better to use zip files then to attempt to program it yourself :) luckily i got it all back working and the video output is now at 720. thank you

If you check my topics on my profile I posted about this same issue. User still1 posted a link to his guide in this forum that will walk you through it. I didn't even have to do all the steps to get the computer to recognize the nexus 7. Once it does you will be able to use the hardware buttons to factory reset. Sorry I couldn't just copy/paste the link but the AC app won't let me.

I hope to see an answer here myself! I have no clue what root booting is but I saw nothing about it in the start up manual either. I can't get past the wifi setup screen. There are no icons except the clock & the settings icon (which only opens the volume slide & one other which I don't know what it is). I now have my N7 plugged into my computer with the Android on his back & it is frozen there. I cannot get Start to go or the up & down arrows either. WTH? I am so disgusted.

Re: My phone is Qmobile noir A8

Hello Everybody, I'm new here on the forum I've seen that there are much people having problems to install another version of android.

I have a HTC desire hd and i would like to install Android revolution hd 7.1 because my father has it on the same phone model, now i'm trying to do the same on my phone but it's driving me crazy there all kind of warnings, nothing is working and i don't find a solution. Can someone please help me because i'm getting sick of it ..

I like to start from the beginning so if anyone can say me step by step how to do it would be very friendly, i now have done a factory reset so i'm there ..
