cant get pass the gmail setup in the beginning

i just got a new g1, and i have a data plan, and a gmail but it doesnt let me get pass the setup when i first turn on my phone. what can i do?

Take it to a T-Mobile store. They'll help you. I had my number ported in and couldn't get past the screen for two days, which was maddening!!! Took it to a store, the dude swapped out the SIM card, and all was good.
