As title states, I can't get Substratum to work. I can install the themes and it will work sometimes, but when I reboot it goes away and I can't use the themes again until I completely reset the overlays and reinstall them, and then they only work until I restart my phone. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

I assume you are on Oreo. Whenever you reboot your phone you have to connect the phone to your computer and reactivate Andromeda. It's a bigger pain than it was on Nougat.

Yeah, thank you. I have done this. I first start by connecting to my laptop and activating Andromeda. With this done, I load up Substratum and download my Swift Black overlay by hitting the "Build and enable" button, and it will install them (which is easier on Oreo because you dont have to install each seperately anymore like on Nougat with the regular installer.) Then, the themes take a minute and start to work, system and all (except for the Notifications which are still white sadly.) Then I reboot, and its all my regular Samsung High Contrast theme again, but Youtube and other apps are all white too. I then go to "Manager" and toggle all overlays and disable and enable them again, and then reboot. It doesnt work, and I end up where I started. Quite strange, but I must be doing somethung wrong.

I also just bought the Flux addon and tried that too and it didnt work.

What I did was build and enable, then reboot. After the reboot, I went into the Substratum Manager at the bottom, then flip the switch to select all overlays then choose change overlays state. After that flip the switch again and choose enable selected. Then all of the apps changed to Black.

Ok, Ill check again in the morning. Maybe I missed one of the last steps. Thanks again!

Ok, Thank you, it worked! Only thing I cant get fixed is the notidicatuons. Any idea?

I did post earlier but it seems to have been removed.

I had recently contacted Substratum over another issue and as part of their reply they did say they are working to remove the Oreo pain.

Oreo is not out for UK unlocked just yet but I guess even when it is I'll wait until that has been done before updating.

Awesome, thank you. Hope it gets done soon, but if I can fix the notifucations then I will be good. I know it takes time and I do certainly enjoy the app.

My email was specifically about the notifications. Here is their reply:

Hi, If you are on nougat then it can't be themed via Substratum you will have to wait for oreo update to theme it. And you are on oreo then follow this workaround
For oreo overlays on n8 apply everything before rebooting except systemUI overlays. Then apply systemUI overlays and use the theme as is.
If you already applied systemUI overlays before rebooting and now you can't enable/disable them from subs app either run subs app in offline mode to uninstall them or uninstall them from settings/apps & then reapply from Subs without rebooting.

If you reboot, you will have to do the whole process again for SystemUI fix. Uninstall, install and enable.

Hope this solves the issue. Substratum team is working on a fix which will fix this soon.

I am using the first apk listed here in the mean time.

Thank you! This has worked almost completely, and I will be leaving it like this for now.

Out of interest did you fix via substratum instructions or with a separate APK?

I am assuming the former but if a separate APK then you'f found a nice one than me. As I say, I'm stuck with the APK solution until Oreo becomes available.

Yep, no problem at all. I used the substratum instructions and am using the Flux addons system UI and settings. The notifications are a little dark for a couple apps, but not a huge deal at all. A lot better than before, tbh. Strange how yours isnt working on Nougat, but hope you guys get oreo soon!
