I've had a Nexus 4 for a couple of weeks and have loved it until today when I received a call and I tried to connect to the person but I couldn't hear them and they couldn't hear me. I've tried over 10 outbound calls and a bunch of inbound calls and every time it's the same; no sound on either end. I've been checking various settings, muting and unmuting, etc. and can't figure out what's happening. It's as if my mic AND speakers aren't working but if I press a number on the keypad, the person on the other end can hear it.

I'm running Google voice and have tried calling through GV and without it. Any thoughts?

When in doubt...Factory restore.
At least you will know then if it's a hardware or a software issue. If you still have issues after a fresh restore with nothing installed. Then send that puppy for warranty

Before you do a factory reset, have you tried plugging in a headset w/mic? Maybe your phone thinks you have one plugged in when you don't, or maybe you have a piece of lint stuck done in the headphone hole, screwing things up. Also, out of curiosity, have you tried making a call using the speaker phone?

Hi All...

I just got my nexus 4 yesterday with stock android 4.2.2

It is not rooted

The in call speaker volume is very very low...

Also, the ring tone volume is very low..

Other than that I love my phone..

Please help..

Hey prat, go to the Google groups link above. It is working and shows how some people resolved this issue.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Have to register on this site to see the link; then have register to join the Google Group to see the thread... Stupid. Why can't the resolution just be posted here????!!!! Arghhhh!!!!

That group is gone, so is the "solution".

This was fixed some time ago in Android 4.3... so if you are on Android 4.3 or 4.4 you should not be having this issue, if you are and are stock then a factory default is in order, if that doesn't fix it then you may be having hardware issues... If you are actually still on 4.2.2, then I would suggest upgrading, if you are on a custom ROM, I would ask in that ROMs support thread.
