Can't hear calls..

So, I bought the HTC One X, a used model and I can't hear calls..might it be something with the settings or maybe the phone?

qtips, hearing aids. what are things that help me hear my calls better? juswt kiddin

two things to check
check settings for blocking, check sound profile in use

saw no problems, and I can hear when phone is in speaker mode...could it be a defective phone?
