Can't hear ringing on dialed calls

Samsung S9. Used to hear dialed phone ringing. After last update, now total silence until called person answers or call goes to voicemail. I want to hear touchtones and dialed phone ringing -- how??????

Welcome to Android Central! Is that for anyone you call, or only certain people on a certain carrier?

The tone you hear when "the other phone is ringing" isn't the other phone ringing, it's a tone generated by your carrier, known as a ringback tone. Talk to your carrier about that. (If you can hear someone talking when you're on the phone, your phone is working.)

As for the touchtones, check in Settings. You can make them short (and turn them off on some phones).
