So I got this shiny new Optimus V but for some reason I can't flash CM7 to it.

Here is what I get:
installing: /sdcard/aospcmod-vm670-20110601-signed.zip finding update package... opening update package... installing update... welcome to aospcmod-vm670-20110601! assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device"0 == "thunderc" E:error in /sdcard/aospcm-670-20110601-signed.zip (status7) installation aborted

Get another recovery, I use xionia, there's a thread on this site and xda that has them listed. To save on future typing rename it vrecovery.img. get terminal emulator from the market, if you don't already have it open it and type as shown

Su
Flash_image recovery /sdcard/vrecovery.img

Also make sure your recovery is at the boot of your SD. Once again to save on typing. Reboot in recovery wipe and flash your rom

Yeah, I figured it out last night. Flashed Xionia, afterwards CM7 flashed fine. :)

And according to your guide, this was a "dumb question"? Whatever dude, get off your friggen high horse. I hold a CompTIA A+, and a Network+. The first thing you learn in PC support is that the only "dumb questions" are the unasked ones. I'm a converted Blackberry user so, sorry Jack for asking the question, but it's my first Android phone and I didn't want to turn it into a $140 paperweight.
