i have lg p506 android version 2.2.2 kernel 2.6.32.9. build number frg83g. i cant finish rooting my lg thrive, i've installed the sdk program and java and my lg drivers and when i type in adb devices in the command prompt i get a list of devices attached with a serial number then devices

for example in command prompt its
list of devices attached
*0xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx devices

i have gingerbreak 1.20.apk on my sd card and when i try to install it wont install, I?m assuming i need to get the gingerbreak in my phone and not on the sd card, when i go to es file explorer and scroll down to gingerbreak-v1.20.apk and click on it to install application i hit install and get error application not installed what do i do from here?

thanks

you should be able to just run the apk from anywhere sounds to me like you might have a bad copy or something try downloading it again and rerunning the apk and see if that fixes it. I have written a pretty detailed how to on rooting the thrive and pheonix I recommend you check it out and see if you may have missed a step along the way. The process is actually really easy for 2.2 and you shouldnt even have to connect your phone to a PC to do it.

i re-downloaded the gingerbreak apk and tried it again it just doesnt want to install, any work arounds to install it, ill keep trying hopefully one tim eit wil install

i tried gingerbreak on a different sd card in my phone and it works, but i have to put back my original sd card into my phone it has all my apps and info and texts. i still cant get gingerbreak to install on my original sd card. if i put in my original sdcard is my phone still rooted when i dont have the sdcard i used to root it, for some reason i cant get gingerbreak to run and install with my original sdcard, on the sdcard where it wont install i get a message above install which says allow this application to:

exclamation point

system tools
read system log files

once you are rooted the sd card dont matter.
the apk just runs a script to allow full function of the rom and your device.
reboot at least once to make sure root took. run a root only app.

yes im rooted, i uninstalled some of my att bloatware but i still have large apps under phone only in app 2 sd. for example i have maps which is 12.27 MB and email app which has 8.85MB and google play store is 7.48 MB and some others but when i click on them in app 2 sd to see if i can move them to my sdcard, the move to sdcard option is greyed out. is it possible to move them to my sdcrad?

Not really ... there might be some weird work around but some programs will not run correctly or at all if you move them to the SD card Play, Email, and Maps are all such programs.

i changed my startup animation with boot animation changer lite, i couldnt find bac lite. change lite only changes the startup animation, is there an app to change both startup and power off animations, maybe with options to turn both off?

not that I am aware of this is something that has to be changed inside of the ROM when it is ready to be installed if I recall correctly I looked into doing the same thing and eventually gave up and I think it was because it was something that had to be changed in the source code before the phone installed the ROM
