Android Central Question

My niece's phone, either G7 or G8

I was charging it off a battery pack and the computer on monday/tuesday this week. Then it wouldnt turn on so i thought the charger wasnt working. but it does have charge because it turns on. But now all it does it it reboots with the little motorola logo. then shows a screen with loads of coding and part of it says: 'Android Recovery. Cant load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory reset and erase all user data stored on this devise. Try again or Factory data reset' with lots of numbers. And Ive tried pressing 'try again' a million times but all it does is the same thing. and ive tried plugging my phone into the laptop to try and get some of the photos even if i cant get the documents but the computer doesnt recognise anything being plugged in anymore.

Any ideas on how to recover?
Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Unfortunately, you probably won't be able to recover the data on that phone. You weren't keeping your important stuff backed up or synced anywhere? Go to photos.google.com on your computer browser -- are any of your photos there?

Don't do a Factory Reset just yet. That wipes the user data partition clean and since this phone is your niece's phone you really should at least ask her if she's OK with losing everything she might have stored on it.

You might also want to have someone who is more phone tech savvy to look at the phone before doing a Factory Reset. Getting stuck in a boot loop is generally an indicator the installed Android operating system has been corrupted in some way, but there could dozens of solutions that don't require wiping the user data off of it It all depends on what the source of the actual problem. At least consult with your niece before taking any drastic measures with her phone.
