Hi all, I can not mute phone. I press the mute icon twice and it does nothing. Have searched without luck.
Will not mute videos or audio files.
Any ideas?

I am in Australia, and with Optus.

Surely there must be a setting or an update that causes this. I can't believe I am the only one to have this issue?

Update, the mute button mutes ringtones, notifications and system....just not media.

Try in safe mode , eliminate any 3rd party apps interfering .

If you want use the volume buttons for media go to settings >sounds

So it would appear that you CAN NOT mute all sounds unless you go through the 57 million step process of enabling 'Do not disturb'. How ridiculous is that?
Is it so hard to have a mute/silent button that actually, you know, silences the freakin' phone!
