Can't pair media link!

Just typed this while using my Media link. Life is good!

Sent from my HTC One using Android Central Forums

Has anyone else noticed that you can't play Highlight videos inside the Events Gallery when connected to the Media Link?

Another thing I've noticed is, if you have an app "pinned" to the quick launch shortcut bar, it is not available in "media mode". The media mode changes your quick launch menu to some special media only menu. And because of how Sense 5 removes app icons from the app drawer when they are on the quick launch bar, they are not in the drawer when you go to look for them.

I was looking for the youtube app in media mode, and it wasnt in the app drawer because I have it pinned to my quick launch bar. I had to exit media mode, then open youtube and then re-enter media mode.

I received an OTA Media Link update last night for my HTC. i'm now able to connected to the device without the hotspot notice popping up. all seems to be ok now except the video is pretty crappy, not HD that's for sure. Netflix HD programs doesn't translate to my 1080p tv but looks fine on the phone. Check you phone for available updates under "about" in settings.

HTC now has an update that fixes this for the HTC One. Open Settings, then click About, then click Software Updates. It should fix the hotspot problem.

what is the SW version of the phone? My version is 1.26.502.10 and does not have any software updates available. w/ this version I still have the same issue not connecting successful.

Actually, the software update doesnt seem to be working. I had to do a factory reset and I lost the update that I had. I go to check for updates to get the Media Link fix again and it says there are no updates for my phone. Does anyone have the standalone apk? Maybe we can side load it?

Same here. Looked for an update and says there is none. So I'm guessing the previous owner (or even myself) has already updated it at one time or another.

Point being though. It is not connecting. Kind of a bummer. I've had similar media sharing gadgets and none have ever had this kind of irritating setup like this.
I bought my HTC One off eBay and I'm with Bell, canadian unlocked but I know for FACT that has nothing to do with the issue. Why would ATT have majority rights of the Media Link? lol

Nevermind. I guess I could give my advice to anyone else who MAY have the same issue still.

Check for the ATT software update and update if there is one.

I did it out of curiosity and there was one for me. Few minutes later all is well. I am streaming youtube as I type and no trouble at all. No stupid hotspot error message and has not even given a hint of breaking the link. Hope all goes well for the last few of you. Just check both the ATT software update and the "About" section to see if there is one there too and update it all.

HTC Media Link HD

When I first received mine, I had to restart my phone after the initial connect attempt and then it would. After a few uses it come up and installed an upgrade and now my phone hooks up great! Now I see it on my network and when I used Windows Media Player instead of RealPlayer it opened up a separate side box for the HTC! Where I can drag & drop files to be played on the flatscreen. But, as it says in the HTC pdf handbook, if you have not changed the password on the Media Link it is 1234567890. I tried directly linking to the device and it says wrong password and I cannot find a way to change the password. Under the settings on my phone you can choose playback speeds, screen savers and rename it, but that is all.

ps: I got this second hand and saved $20 bucks, so someone changed the password.

Any new info on this problem, please let me know. [email address removed] is my e-mail addy.

thanks,

lee
