Can't play music from en external speaker connected with aux cable

[Android Central Question]

Hello, I have a Redmi 5 plus with android 7 and when I connect it with my soundcore speaker with the aux cable it doesn't make a sound (it works fine with Bluethoot though). I know it's not a cable issue because I tried on my laptop and it works fine, is there any setting/app to make it work?

Welcome to Android Central! When the speaker is connected, is it still silent even with the volume on the phone (not the speaker) turned all the way up?
