I got the nexus because of the dev support and the updates from Google. I know that when a new os comes out, we will be first in line, like the nexus s was. I'm coming from the rezound, which I liked better for reception, camera and screen, but I wasn't about to let htc be in control of my phone and update schedule for the next 2 years. I'll only buy nexus phones now.

Are you kidding? This is the best device out there, and because of it being a Nexus, will always be ahead of all other devices in terms of software, until the next Nexus is released. I have no bugs, no signal issues, no problems at all. This thing runs flawlessly! Having said that, if you need to be "convinced" to buy anything (phone, car, toilet paper) then you shouldn't get it. If you've looked at other phones as well and still can't decide, then I'd suspect that your searching for perfection. You'll never find it and likely be dissatisfied with anything you buy. All these devices are one bad app away from developing a problem. Unfortunately, people can't associate the problem with an app, so they say the phone sucks.
Thanks for the reply, but this attempt at psychology is rather juvenile. I enjoy doing homework before making a purchase, and I have been pretty happy with most of the results. For instance my Samsung Fascinate, is not perfect, but has served me well for going on 16 months and I still show it off with pride.
I have no idea where you get all this 'searching for perfection' nonsense, but its off base.
I cant seem to pull the trigger on a Galaxy Nexus purchase, I need to either be convinced to do it or be convinced the phone is not for me.
Just out of curiosity and not to be controversial may I ask how you know that the Galaxy Nexus will be the first to get new versions of the OS? Is it because this has happened in the past to Nexus devices and you're extrapolating this to be the same as previous Nexus versions? Or has there been some official statement by Google to that effect?
Is this the first Nexus device by Verizon? If not, what is their past history on updates? If so, then we don't know their history so it may not be clear what will happen.
Verizon is the 800 pound gorilla with regard to carriers. They hold out until things are in their favor. We saw that with the iPhone and how long it took Apple to get Verizon to carry the device and we also saw it with this phone and when it was released.
My gut feel is that Google is not in total control with the Galaxy Nexus as they were with prior Nexus devices. Time will tell, though.
It's the nature of nexus devices. The device is in the hands of the devs and they will make sure we get stable updates to new os'. Like nexus devices before this, the carrier has little to do with it. Granted verizon has a minor hand in release schedules, we have been on 4.0.3 for weeks without the official release of it. It sounds like you aren't familiar with nexus devices and the community.

I honestly wish the Nexus was made by Motorola with the build quality of the Razr and a removable battery. But that's not a choice for now.
