Yes, I am sure it's me; but that's why we have forums.
I've used the "Search" function, but this is way to vague to drill down to any usable results.
Phone: Samsung S20+ (but I don't think it's necessarily specific to this model).
My issue...
In Samsung Contacts, I have all these "Custom" numbers (and fields) and I have no idea how to remove them. When I go into edit, those fields are not there to remove (no - symbol).
Example:
Contact:
111a.png

Edit screen:
222a.png

It's driving me nuts! HELP!!!

Is it happening for all contacts? Are the 'custom' ones the same number as the 'Mobile' one or are they different? If you scroll down on the Edit screen and tap 'View more', does it load any of those numbers?

This may also be due to duplicate contacts in different storages... On the first screen, you should see a Storage Locations button. If you tap that, you can check if the same contact is saved either in different locations (i.e. your Google account and your Samsung account, phone storage, SIM card, etc.) and if so, some of those locations have the numbers saved as 'Custom' or they don't support phone type fields, like older SIM cards.

@SpookDroid First, thank you for your time in responding.

Yes, it is happening for multiple contacts. In some cases, the custom number is the same as a "normally" stored number. In other cases, there are additional numbers and/or additional fields.

I think you're onto something with storage locations, but there is no option to see/choose that. I even did a search in All Settings and nothing. FWIW- the phone has Android 13 (Tiramisu).
There are zero contacts stored on the phone, all synced from Google account- but... I have 540 Google Contacts (when viewed in browser on PC) and 639 Google Contacts, associated with same Gmail account, on my phone. So, this is why I say there may be some "storage" issue.

This will be a little harder to follow since we're in different OS versions, but the options should be there...somewhere. If you can't see them in the way I describe them, they're usually in the same 'screen' but maybe under a menu button or a long-press.

Go to your Contacts app and tap the menu button. You should see either an option to select contacts from different storage locations or an option that says 'View by storage location'. You can check there first and clean up any duplicates that there may be.

You said that all of these are in your Google account. When you open your Contacts on a browser, do the multiple numbers also show up there, or just your phone?

Couldn't find any "secret" menu. I do have the option to sync to multiple Google accounts, but all those other accounts have 0 contacts, and are not syncing.

When I open the same contacts on a PC, no the additional info is not displayed. So, obviously, there is another data source, but WHERE?!?!?!?

Without having an OS13 Samsung phone it's gonna be really difficult for me to keep helping, so here's what I suggest. If your contacts are backed up on your Google account (double check on a PC/web just to make sure you're not 'missing' anything), I would just 'start from scratch'. Open the Contact app's Info Settings and clear cache/data. That should prompt a re sync to your Google account (but also any other Contacts from other synced accounts, so look out for that in the Accounts section of your Settings).

Got it sorted, kinda, but now seeing what I want.
Apparently, I had some (very) old contacts syncing from my Samsung account, although there is no option under Contacts to do that. Also, some other random syncing.
I did this last night, so I don't remember exactly where I found all this, but I deleted everything and just re-synced my Google contacts.
Before Google sync, zero contacts. After Google sync 582 contacts on phone, but only 558 contacts on PC Google contacts.
At least all the "Custom" fields seem to be gone. Where those other 24 people are coming from, I'll let it go for now, until my S25U arrives next Friday...
@SpookDroid I really appreciate your taking the time!
