can't remove password lock

Can anyone help me with this. I don't want to use the password anymore but can't get back to none. Also I had smart lock setup with bt.

Does your phone have any "Phone Adminstrators"? It says it is disabled by device administrators, which is what I see on my phone because I have my work email enabled and their policy is set to be an administrator for remote wipe, etc.

It's either because of phone administrators or trusted certificates. If you use foxfi, the trusted certificates it installs requires you to have a lock screen.
