So Smart Switch can't be installed on my Pixel 2 and when I tried to restore from backup, I can't find my Pixel 2 as a backup. Digging around, I've noticed that Google Drive isn't installed on my phone from the factory and isn't Android requiring Drive now to restore apps?

Can anybody help?

I'm currently using a Pixel 2, and when I check my Google account settings, it says everything has backed up within the past few hours.

When I go to setup my S9+ and log in to my Google account, it only asks to restore from my Galaxy S7 edge which I used previously before it. When I log into my Samsung account, it asks if I want to restore from my S7 edge also.

I really don't want to manually transfer my SMS messages and manually download all the apps that I was using on the Pixel 2.

Does anybody know how to avoid this?

Are you sure you have the same Google (not gmail) account in the Pixel and the S9+? If so, like it or not, you probably are going to have to back up and restore your SMS manually and re-install your apps. (You can save a little time by installing App Backup & Restore on the pixel, backing everything up (the box at the top checks all the boxes), copying the App_Backup_Restore folder to the S9+ and restoring everything. At least you won't have to look all over the site for each app.
